Malta Handball Gears Up for Final Weekend
The Malta Handball Association (MHA) announced that the closing weekend of the 2025/2026 season will take place on 25–26 April 2026, with the EHF Level 2 Coaching sessions held by an EHF Expert commencing on Friday 24 April. The weekend brings together the best of local competition, international officiating, and elite coach education.
Season Finals
The League Champions and Knock-Out Cup winners from each age category will compete in a championship final — the last and most coveted trophy of the season. Finals – which will consist of four games on Saturday, 25th April and two games on Sunday 26th April – span all categories from Under-15 (U15) through to Seniors, giving players at every level the chance to compete for glory on the biggest stage of the year. The schedule for the weekend – which will take place at the University Sports Hall – is outlined below, with final fixtures to be confirmed closer to the date.

International Referees from France
The MHA is proud to welcome French international referees David Christmann and Thomas Iltis to officiate on the final day of competition. An experienced duo with 15 years refereeing experience at elite level, they are classified in Elite Group 1 by the French National Refereeing Commission (CNA) and regularly officiate across the LNH, the men’s Proligue, and the Women’s Butagaz Énergie League.
Widely recognised for their consistency in high-pressure matches, they have been appointed to key fixtures involving clubs such as Montpellier, PSG, Nîmes, Nantes, and Limoges.
EHF Expert Luís Santos — Level 2 Coaching Course

EHF expert Luís Santos will be in Malta from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th April, delivering sessions as part of the MHA’s Level 2 Coaching Course. Santos brings over two decades of expertise in high-performance training and athlete development, holding a degree and master’s in Sports Science and the EHF Master Coach Pro License. He has served as a physical education teacher, lecturer for the Portuguese Handball Federation, and director of advanced coaching courses.
The Level 2 course is delivered by EHF experts, the Association’s Technical Director, and experienced local coaches. Falling under the EHF Master Plan, it is designed to advance technical, tactical, and managerial coaching competencies.
Open CPD Sessions — All Coaches Welcome
Coaches not enrolled in the Level 2 course are encouraged to attend these sessions as part of their Continuous Personal Development (CPD) requirements for the 2026/2027 Coaching Licence. Sessions build on the work of the Association’s Technical Director and coaches Allan Heine and Carlos Prieto and are open to all coaches throughout the weekend.
