The Malta Handball Association today officially welcomes its newly elected Committee as it assumes responsibility for leading and developing handball in Malta for the coming term.

The Committee was elected during the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 29 May 2026.Heading the Association as President is Mr Vladimiro Comodini, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in governance, strategic development, and organisational transformation across various sectors.

His appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for Maltese handball, focused on strengthening the sport’s foundations, broadening participation, and creating greater opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials, and clubs.

Supporting the President are Vice-President Mr Kenneth Hili and General Secretary Mr Mario Mercieca, both highly respected figures within the local handball community whose knowledge, commitment, and experience will play a key role in advancing the Association’s objectives.The Committee is further strengthened by the co-option of Mr Orlando Bonnici, Mr Ishmael Barbara, and Mrs Charlotte Gregory, each bringing valuable expertise in sports administration, organisational management, and business leadership.

The new Committee is committed to working closely with all stakeholders to promote the sustainable growth of handball across Malta. Particular emphasis will be placed on youth development, increased participation at grassroots level, support for clubs, enhancement of coaching and officiating standards, and the continued improvement of governance and administration within the sport.

Commenting on the commencement of the Committee’s mandate, President Mr Vladimiro Comodini said: “I am honoured to assume the role of President of the Malta Handball Association and to serve a sport that has such a proud history and passionate community. On behalf of the newly elected Committee, I would like to sincerely thank the previous administration for their dedication and contribution to Maltese handball. Their work has helped lay important foundations upon which we can continue to build.Looking ahead, our focus will be on working collaboratively with clubs, athletes, coaches, officials, sponsors, SportMalta, the Malta Olympic Committee, and all our stakeholders to strengthen the handball community and create new opportunities for growth. Together, we will strive to raise participation, improve standards, and ensure that handball continues to flourish and inspire future generations.

The Malta Handball Association looks forward to embarking on this new chapter and remains committed to promoting excellence, inclusivity, and sporting values for the benefit of the entire handball community and Maltese sport as a whole.
