Last Wednesday, the handball court became the setting for something much bigger than competition, as Malta’s female handball teams came together for a special event in support of the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation.

The initiative by Kavallieri Handball Club brought players, coaches, officials and members of all local handball community together with one common purpose: to use sport as a platform to raise awareness and support an important cause. While handball may have brought everyone to the court, the evening was ultimately about solidarity, community and making a positive difference beyond the game.

The event also helped raise funds for the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, supporting the valuable work it carries out within the Maltese community.

We were particularly honoured to welcome Esther Sant, a breast cancer survivor, advocate and co-founder of the Foundation. Her presence gave even greater meaning to the occasion and served as an important reminder of the people and stories behind the cause we were supporting.

Events such as this demonstrate the positive role that sport can play in society. Rivalries and competition are an important part of the game, but there are moments when clubs and athletes can put their colours aside and come together as one sporting community.
